Since January 2017 I've been a member of an advisory board at the famed Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA. Originally called The Skibo Society, our founding mission was to work closely with Marilyn Russell, the Director of Education, and other senior museum staff to create a new membership and roster of events that aimed to be more appealing to young professionals, working parents, and marginalized communities. In October of 2018 I was promoted to executive board member of Skibo, and in January of 2019 we launched officially launched our programming and became Carnegie Art Associates.

Carnegie Art Associates (CMOACAA) is a membership and programming tier formed to foster passion, advocacy, and a deeper relationship between the museum and Pittsburgh's young creatives and professionals, as well as to engage those whose voices are most sorely needed in art institutions, but have barriers—financial, historical, or personal—that previously may have prevented them from feeling welcome in museum spaces. CMOACAA advocates for artists, especially marginalized artists; curates immersive and engaging events that revolve around art in all mediums; and creates opportunities for people with similar social and philanthropic interests to convene.

During the final few months of Skibo, as we headed towards our debut and name change, I headed the marketing team, created the invitations and other promotional materials, and hired DJ SMI for our launch event, which we coined Carnegie Art Associates: REVEAL. I also contributed language and copy for promo emails and newsletters, reached out my press contacts for coverage, and helped solidify our new name, expanded mission, memberships offerings, pricing structure, and scholarship opportunities (a portion of each ticket was allocated toward a fund that provides CMOACAA memberships to those who want to engage more fully with CMOA but can't afford to).

I'm very excited and honored to be a founding member of Carnegie Art Associates and to continue to help establish needful relationships between the Carnegie Museum of Art and my community. REVEAL was a huge and fulfilling success (tickets sold out), but the most important work is still to come. To find out more about CMOACAA and become a member and/or a sponsor, visit our page on the CMOA website for more details.
