I served as Senior Web Designer for VIBE Vixen, the sister publication of VIBE Magazine, during my tenure as VIBE's Interactive Art Director. VIBE Vixen was issued quarterly and covered fashion, beauty, dating, entertainment, and societal issues. As a big fan of Honey and Suede Magazine, the opportunity to design the first iteration of vibevixen.com in tandem with the debut standalone issue (it was previously a biannual insert in VIBE) was one I treasured. Vixen's Art Director, Erika N. Perry, had also been the AD at Suede, and the look she created for print heavily influenced my mockups--typography and color palette primarily.

VIBE Vixen target demographic--Black women aged 20-35 who were interested in fashion, style, and beauty--presented a huge opportunity to attract beauty brands, namely those that wouldn't necessarily advertise in VIBE Mag. With that in mind, we created the Vixen Verified Awards. Our plan of action was to build a poll to collect information about our user's favorite beauty products and subsequently announce the winners in an upcoming issue of the the magazine. I designed the interface for the poll and managed the freelanced Flash developer who added the movement, music (Fergie's "Glamorous", naturally), and animation.
