And if you have even a remote internet presence, it should, at the very least, function as a hub for your websites, digital projects, and social media profiles. It's certainly easier to tell potential clients, friends, and peers that everything I'm working on can be found via sarahhunyyoung.com than to list multiple URLs.
Because this is my personal site and needed to be a reflection of me entirely, I got pretty experimental with it. I enjoyed that immensely; every designer can benefit from working on personal projects that display what they're capable of with no rules or boundaries.
There are actually three different layout alternatives depending on the browser width or device--one for a full screen display, one for a tablet (i.e. iPad) and one for mobile.
